The Director-General, Media and Publicity, to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo has urged the leadership and members of the Kogi Integrity Initiative to collaborate with the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello to bring development to the State.
Fanwo, who made the call while receiving the leadership of KII in his office, stated that the Governor is committed to taking the State to higher pedestal of growth and development.
“Governor Yahaya Bello is prepared to work with groups and association that share his vision of development. The administration has a clear cut development plan as encapsulated in the New Direction Blueprint to develop all the sectors of the economy.”
“In doing this, the Governor has erected integrity bumps to check corruption and ensure probity, accountability and transparency. There cannot be development in an atmosphere of chaos and corruption”.
The Governor’s spokesman berated those he called , “ethnic chauvinists who are still living in the past” for their “destructive criticism of the present administration”, saying the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello remains faithful to his policy thrust of New Direction for development.
He said, “I wish to specially thank you for coming to see things for yourself. I have decided to take you round these renovated facilities in Government House to show our facts against those who are uncomfortable with the progress the Governor is making. We welcome constructive criticism that can help the administration’s development agenda”.
Fanwo said the administration of Governor Bello remains unwavering in developing education, agriculture, healthcare, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises as well as putting in place, structures for empowerment through agro-businesses and skills acquisition.
Speaking earlier, the Director of Operations of Kogi Integrity Initiative, Alh. Ibrahim Kadiri said they are in Government House on facts finding mission. He said the organization received a petition from a group of Kogites, alleging that no renovation was undertaken by government, contrary to claims.
His words: “We have decided to visit the Director General of Media and Publicity to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello to find out facts concerning the status of our Government House. What we have seen here today is at complete variance to the petition we received.
“We wish to use this opportunity to commend the Governor for turning Kogi State Government House to a centre of excellence. We were here in 2014 and we remember how this place looked like. Today, we have a Government House that can receive the President of the United States.
“This is the story we want to tell the world. Coming here, we have seen a departure from the past. We are having a worthy seat of government in Kogi State. We urge those writing spurious petitions to visit the Government House and see what government is doing here”.
Alh. Ibrahim however called on the Governor to speed up the Staff Verification Exercise in order to ameliorate the hardship being experienced by some of the civil servants who are yet to receive their salaries.
