Alhaji Hashimu Jibrin-Gurku, who is a member of Nassarawa State House of Assembly and representing Karu/ Gitata constituency, has donated building materials worth N1.5 million for the rehabilitation of dilapidated structures at Dutsen Gogo Primary School in Karu Local Government.

He presented the materials during the annual New Year festival in Dutsen Gogo on Sunday.

According to him, the building materials include 20 bundles of roofing sheets and 150 bags of cement, among others.

“I am your representative and I promise to discharge my duty diligently without discrimination, as such I will do everything humanly possible to renovate dilapidated structures in all the primary schools in our constituency”, he said.

The lawmaker pledged to ensure that all public school structures in the constituency were rehabilitated during his tenure to provide conducive environment for teaching and learning.

“Education is the bedrock of every nation, and as such, I will do my utmost best within available resources to make sure that the quality of education imparted on our children improves greatly,” he said.

The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman House Committee on Land and Survey, said he would institute a scholarship scheme for students in tertiary institutions from the constituency.

The gesture, he said, would go a long way in assisting indigent parents who always find it difficult to pay their children school fees.

The youth leader of the community, Mr Shagari Dutsen-Gogo, thanked the legislator for the gesture, saying that the people would continue to pray for his success.
