The exiled former dictator of the west African state of Burkina Faso has been charged with the murder of the president he took power from in a bloody coup nearly three decades ago.

 Blaise Compaore, who was overthrown last year after 27 years in power, was charged by Burkina Faso’s new government with the "assassination" of his predecessor, Thomas Sankara, a charismatic revolutionary
