The third most popular leader in the world claims poll - David Cameron
Good news Dave! The PM is just behind Barack Obama and Angela Merkel
David Cameron has been handed a massive Christmas gift - and it'll come as a shock to anyone hit by welfare cuts .
Apparently the rosy-cheeked Prime Minister is the third most popular leader in the world.
The Tory leader beat the leaders of Iran, Russia and China to claim the gong from a polling firm.
Only Barack Obama, who came first, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who came second, beat the British PM in a ranking of the 10 best-known leaders around the world.
People in 65 countries were asked how favourably or unfavourably they viewed the 10 leaders - with a massive 59% favourable score for the US President.
David Cameron scored a 37% favourable rating, though another 28% of people viewed him unfavourably.
People in South Asia were the most friendly to the PM, with 53% saying they viewed him favourably and just 12% saying they viewed him unfavourably.
He was also popular in the rest of Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, where 44% of people viewed the PM favourably.
But perhaps unsurprisingly, he fared worst in the Middle East and North Africa - where just 24% of people have a positive view of him.
