Firmino, a summer signing from Hoffenheim, started his career with the Reds slowly and it took him a while to really find his feet.

However in the past few matches, he has been brilliant, acting as the main forward in Jurgen Klopp’s team.

He has scored four goals in the league in January and was the star of Liverpool’s incredible 5-4 victory over Norwich, which was arguably one of the games of the season.

He has started February in fine form and he could well be in with a shout of winning the award in back-to-back months if he keeps it up.

Liverpool face West Ham later tonight in the FA Cup in their fourth round replay although it is currently unclear whether or not Firmino will be involved.

The club currently have games coming thick and fast with a Premier League match against Aston Villa to come as well as the Europa League matches against Augsburg and the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City.

Klopp will need Firmino at his very best for these games, particularly with Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge still not fully fit.
